Our people

Narikka is established by Birgit Määttä and Erja Saarelainen in 1997. They both have over 25 years of experience working with disabled people. They shared vision of what this work is all about:

The family is the best expert with disabled people.

Disabled person is always unique for their family and for Narikkas’ personnel. The work is rewarding for us when we can support our client’s in collaboration with their family and relatives.

From this vision IsoNarikka was founded, where Narikka started its operations. We create possibilities for disabled people to attend on everything that life offers. We call this “Steps of your own life”. The good life contains that family, work, and hobbies are in equilibrium. Narikka encourages its client’s to find their “own thing” in life.

For the personnel we also grant the possibility for growth. Finding the right “work me” is a lifelong journey. Joy in the journey can be found when learning something new.

To a good life includes that family, work and own activities are in balance. Narikka guides its people to activities. Narikka often finances these activities, if possible, and whenever they support service development.

In Narikka, we have created an organization which we call as “the rotational model”. Here the client is in the center and everything is happening with his or her terms. This model allows us better connect with our clients and also generates new ideas and maintains the change. It also allows us to adapt immediately to the expectations of families and environment.

Narikka is also always supporting its personnel.  Our ideology contains that making mistakes is human. Good mistakes show things from different angle. Learning from mistakes helps to move forward more effectively than plain routine. But we want to highlight that it always depends on the clients how situations are handled. Work is divided according to what each does the best but we want to give everyone possibilities to learn something new.  Narikka’s people are our strength and force.
